BROOKSVILLE – Brooksville Police are investigating a shooting that left one person injured.
According to officials, the victim has been identified as 19-year-old Lonnie Christopher Dayshawn and is reportedly undergoing surgery at this time. Sources say Dayshawn did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
Officials says Dayshawn is not cooperating with investigators and has not revealed the shooter’s identity or location of the incident.
Dayshawn was located at the Brooksville Food Store on Howell Ave and transported by ground to a trauma center.
The investigation continues.

There are dealers in the apartments next to the store on Ederington. They deal in the broad daylight, yet BPD does nothing.
I was leaving work today and had a crazy person pull a firearm on me. Just got off the phone with the sheriffs office. The entire incident is on camera. Multiple people called it in and the suspect fled through red lights and through residential yards. Hernando county was not this crazy when I first moved here but with the increase in population comes an increase in criminals. btw the person got away. If any one seen it or knows about it and has information to lead to an arrest, please report it to the sheriff or to tom. You can remain anonymous.
It may be the shooter(s) saw a movie that disparaged their religion and he shot the first person he saw.

I live in the area and continue to see Twigg Street scum driving in and out dealing dope. All the good North Side residents have been arming their selves for the worst to come. At least the local LEO’s know about it and are also keeping an eye on the “traffic”.
its been like that for decades. nothing changes. its a politics and money game. 50 years from now it wont change. once you understand these low level dealers snitch on upper level people so that the forfeiture is worth the time, youll understand the hustle. Ive seen people get in trouble for felony trafficking and not serve any time bc they turn state witness informant. these small fish give bigger connections up or information to a more serious offense or evidence to help convict more people and its a hand shake post arrest have a nice day. they know the system and use it.
