REGIONAL – Pasco County Officials are warning residents to beware of “evil” clowns roaming the streets at night, after several concerned citizens reported sightings over the last few days.
According to officials, the clowns are actually part of a nationwide event, where individuals associate themselves with “evil, murder, rape,” and other violent acts.
In Pasco County alone there have been sightings in Hudson, Port Richey, and Holiday. Some of the clowns have created facebook profiles, friend requested juveniles, and then asked them to meet in a park at night.
Officials say these types of acts are not being taken as a joke and are being investigated as threats. They are also asking residents to use caution and report sightings to the Sheriff’s Office.
Sources tell RNRF that Pasco County Deputies have been ordered to arrest anyone 17 and up who is wearing a mask or concealing their face. This law falls under Florida Statute 876.12.
Clown sightings have also been reported in Hernando County but officials have not released a formal statement regarding possible criminal activity.
The photograph below was sent in by a viewer who claims to have spotted at least four clowns hiding behind a fence at a residence on Elgin Blvd. We cannot confirm the legitimacy of the photograph.
We have not received reports of clown sightings in Citrus County so far.
At least 10 people were arrested in Alabama and Kentucky since the event began, and some are facing felony charges for making terrorist threats.

The issue is legitimate even if the picture is not. I stated that a “viewer claims” that it was taken on Elgin Blvd. And in addition I know for a fact that sightings have occurred in Hernando County. Pasco is also receiving numerous reports and is actively investigating them as threats.
Oh I believer in the seriousness, and want all safety precautions used. But also I find some of this a little herd to believe. There has also been many reports and kids caught in lies about this.

I work at the court house. I have a damn good idea of what is going on. I am also a reasonable adult who knows people panic when there is something going on they also don’t know the whole truth on. Who said I didn’t believe in guns. I happen to own a couple myself and know very well how to use them and have used them to protect myself and wouldn’t hesitate to do so again if necessary.

With this in national news, it only takes one demented person high on drugs or something to use this as a way for theft or assault, especially on a child. I just do not want to see any children terrorized by these creepy clowns. I saw the fear in these children’s face as they told me about this news, which I was unaware of.

This story says nothing, according to the story these “evil” clowns haven’t actually committed any crime. This is click bait at its purest, it is meant to make you think that the author is warning you about some danger and in so doing the community a service, when according to the story the people wearing masks aren’t doing anything other than that… just wearing masks. It seems like the “journalist” is in-artfully using people’s fear and the current policial climate to drive clicks for a story that has no legs all. It’s pretty irresponsible to set up a story like this, whoever wrote it should see it will cause people to create their own narrative as to what is happening with the masks or maybe they shouldn’t call themselves journalists.
Anthony, almost every news sources across the nation published a story on the clowns. If it is click bait then we are all guilty of it. And obviously you didn’t read beyond the headline because the source of the information and the warnings came from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.
