CITRUS SPRINGS - Citrus County’s Tactical Impact Unit executed a search warrant at a home on North Cherry Lake Drive yesterday, after anonymous tips led Detectives to investigate alleged drug trafficking inside the residence.

Through their investigation, Citrus County Detectives learned that a convicted felon out of Colorado, 32-year-old Duane Starkey, owned the home located at 9909 N. Cherry Lake Drive.

During a search of the home, investigators discovered large quantities of narcotics hidden in high-tech safes throughout the residence. Starkey also utilized an advanced locking mechanism on his bedroom door that required a thumb print and security code to gain entry. Inside Starkey’s bedroom, investigators located guns, drugs, gems, jewelry, and a large amount of U.S. currency.

Detectives located a plethora of various drugs; including Cocaine, Marijuana, LSD, Psilocybin (mushrooms), Anabolic Steroids (DECA, Chorionic, Stanozolol, Clenbuterol, Trenbolone, Testovorin), Suboxone, Propacet, Hydrocodone, Dronabinol, Oxycodone, Carisoprodol, Amphetamine, Alprazolam, Methlephenidate/hydrochloride, and Lorazepam.

Starkey faces the following charges:

  • Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon - 1 Count
  • Trafficking in Over 28g of Oxycodone - 1 Count (carries a 15year minimum mandatory if convicted)
  • Possession of Controlled Substance With Intent to Sell - 14 Counts
  • Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Sell - 1 Count
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – 1 Count

Starkey is currently held on a $54,000.00 bond.

Although Starkey is the prime suspect in this case, it should be noted, Robert Crosby, 23, was also located in the home during the search warrant. Deputies found 3 grams of marijuana wax and an empty baggie of cocaine on Crosby’s person. Crosby confessed to deputies that the marijuana wax was his and that he had snorted the cocaine earlier that morning. Crosby received a notice to appear on charges of possession of Marijuana and Paraphernalia, in lieu of being booked into the Citrus County Jail.
