Football was back in swing last week, with Hernando County teams going 2-2 as Nature Coast and Central stormed to victories, while Weeki Wachee and Hernando lost district games.
Joining me as always is Derek J. LaRiviere, and we will be breaking down the week six slate, which will see a tough district matchup between two newly anointed rivals.
Game of the Week: Springstead (2-1, 1-0 6A-6) at Sunlake (4-1, 0-0 6A-6) 7:30 p.m.
Aiello Jr: Sunlake, 35-28
LaRiviere: Springstead, 17-14
Derek’s Breakdown: The Seahawks have four wins and only the one loss, but that loss to Zephyrhills was quite a surprise considering their other success. Springstead looked like a different team altogether against Mitchell, and with a week off to prepare for Sunlake, Mike Garofano should have his Eagles ready to go for their trip down to Land O’Lakes.
Danny’s Breakdown: Sunlake has been good in the early going of this season and face their first district test this season in the form of Springstead. Jordan Wright and company knocked off Mitchell before their bye week, putting the Eagles in the 6A-6 driver’s seat. Springstead will have a hard time against this familiar foe, who have only allowed a combined nine points across their last two tilts.
Byes: None
OVERALL RECORDS (LAST WEEK) : Aiello Jr: 8-2 (36-17), LaRiviere 8-2 (38-15)
