Central Downs Hudson 13-3
Central scored early and often Thursday night on their way to a 13-3 win against the visiting Hudson Cobras.
Hudson (5-11) would strike first as Luis Ortiz tripled to start the game and scored two hitters late on a Jordan Nutting double.
Central (10-7) answered in the bottom of the inning plating two runs.
Justin Chevalier led off with a walk and advanced to second on a passed ball. He scored from second a Jonathan Allion single. After advancing on another passed ball, Allion came home on Ian Peacock’s single, allowing the Bears to take a 2-1 lead.
In the second both teams scored again, as Hudson scratched across one run via an Ortiz single.
Central added three in the bottom of the second to take a 5-2 lead they would never relinquish.
Trevor Adler singled home the first run, followed by Dalton Lewis who matched him with an RBI single of his own. The third run came on Hudson’s third passed the ball of the game, allowing the runner to score as the ball scooted to the backstop.
The Cobras added their third and final run the following inning thanks to a Dom Rutigliano sacrifice fly.
Four runs in each the third and fourth innings by the Bears put this game well out of reach. The big hit of the night was a bases-loaded triple in the fourth from Adam Palma to put the ten run rule into effect.
Central starting pitcher Kestler Harbuck did an excellent job limiting the amount of damage Hudson did on offense. He allowed three runs in the shortened game and lifted Central to double digit victories on the season.
