Hernando downs Nature Coast 4-1 in Early District Clash

By: Brandon Webster
Timely hitting by the Hernando Leopards (2-0) allowed them to come away Friday with a key district victory as they beat Nature Coast 4-1.
The Sharks (1-1) who opened their season with a win, hosted the Leopards in this early season district game against county rivals.
Trevor Vendrone got the visiting Hernando squad on the board in the top of the first hitting a sacrifice fly off of Brandon Santiago who got the nod for Nature Coast.
Santiago, who allowed that lone blemish in four innings, would be dueled closely by Carson Lashley who tamed the Shark’s offense for five innings only allowing a J.P. Gates RBI double.
Nature Coast had chances to open the game up, like the fourth inning where they failed to get home a runner from third with one out.
The Leopards would break through against the Nature Coast bullpen, as Cameron Price and Brad Ellis drove in runs in the fifth.
Anthony Urso would belt a sacrifice fly in the sixth to cap the scoring.
Both teams are in action Tuesday as Nature Coast travels to Ridgewood and Hernando travels to Fivay. Games are scheduled to start at 7p.m. weather permitting.
