Investigation Underway into Possible Infant Drowning

UPDATE: 7/3/2017, 3:53 P.M. – RNRF has received information from an unnamed source that the child survived the incident and is recovering at All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg.

Sources say the child slipped through an open door and fell into the swimming pool. CPR was performed on the child before being rushed to Oak Hill Hospital, where he was later airlifted to All Children’s Hospital.

ORIGINAL REPORT:

SPRING HILL – The Sheriff’s Office is investigating a possible drowning that occurred at a residence on Deltona Blvd.

Around 6:30 p.m., Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 6016 Deltona Blvd after receiving reports that infant had possibly drowned in the family pool.

According to Officials with Hernando County Fire Rescue, the infant was transported to Oak Hill Hospital by someone inside the home and that they had no contact with the victim.

The child’s condition is unknown at this time.

  1. Glad the baby survived and feel horrible for their family. I have to assume they were visiting? Or is it not code to have child safety gates around a pool?

  2. My heart ache for this family! Every year I read about more and more children and pool accidents. PLEASE! PLEASE, put a child gate around your pool and then add 2 more layers of protection! You can find them on Craig’s list, letgo and more.
