A 30-year old Brooksville man has been charged with burglary and 15 counts each for dealing in stolen property and defrauding a second-had dealer. The suspect was identified in a sheriff’s office media release as Zacariah Thomas WIlson of Huston St. He was arrested last week on the burglary charge, with the additional counts added this week.
According to the media release, deputies responded to a residential burglary on July 10 where numerous items were reported stolen from the rear porch and detached garage. Some of the items listed missing were a weight bench with approximately 450 pounds of loose weights, circular saws, electric drills, a pressure washer, a 750 cc Yamaha engine, and numerous other items.
A neighborhood canvas by deputies developed the name of Zachariah Thomas Wilson as a possible suspect. He is a neighbor of the victim and has been on the property in the past. Two separate eyewitnesses were able to place Wilson’s vehicle on the victim’s property during the time frame of the burglary.
Investigation revealed that Wilson and his girlfriend, Tammy Christensen, had been to local recyclers numerous times between June 15 and July 5, and had completed 15 transactions. Copies of the transaction forms and photographs of the property were shown to the victim. The victim positively identified the property from the photographs.
On July 26, contact was made with Wilson at the Hernando County Jail after being arrested on the original burglary charge. Post Miranda, he admitted to selling the property to the recyclers, although he denied removing it from the victim’s residence. He was then booked on the additonal charges and was being held in lieu of $210,000 bond on a total of 31 charges, according to jail records.
