UPDATE: 8:00 P.M. - There are unconfirmed reports that the child’s mother returned to Walmart and the child was given back to her custody. Sources say the child was left in the care of someone who may have mental disabilities, which may have led to the child being abandoned. The Department of Children and Families is investigating the incident.
BROOKSVILLE – Sheriff’s Deputies are trying to determine who abandoned a 3-month old little girl inside the Walmart Supercenter on Cortez Blvd.
NEW PORT RICHEY (PASCO) – The Sheriff’s Office is investigating a brutal murder and attempted suicide, after a man stabbed his girlfriend to death and then turned the knife on himself.
SPRING HILL – Barclay Ave is shut down in both directions after a moving truck overturned in the roadway.
SPRING HILL – Downed trees, power lines, and flooded streets plague the area this evening, after strong thunderstorms brought heavy rains, strong winds, and even a possible tornado.
UPDATE: 6/23/2017, 4:42 P.M. - During a press conference with officials this afternoon, Detectives confirmed the details of our earlier report and provided new information into the brave actions taken by the victim to save her own life.
According officials, the victim was beat and strangled to the point of nearly losing consciousness. At some point during the struggle, the victim grabbed a wooden box and struck Rettley, causing him to stop the attack. Officials say Rettley stated to the victim, “I am going to kill you because you are going to call the cops after I leave.” The victim began to scream for help which led to several neighbors responding to the residence to try and help. That’s when witnesses say they observed Rettley crawl out the bedroom window.
Rettley told investigators during an interview, “I just snapped.”
UPDATE: 10:44 P.M. - According to the Hernando County Detention Center website, Lee Roy Rettley is charged with Sexual Assault with a Weapon, Home Invasion Robbery and Committing a Felony that Could Cause Death. Rettley remains behind bars, held on an $150,000 bond.
It should be noted that the Florida Department of Corrections lists the suspect’s name as LeRoy Rattley. But other government agency websites lists his name as Lee Roy Rettley.

BROOKSVILLE – Sheriff’s Deputies have a suspect in custody who may have attempted to rape a woman on Brook Drive, earlier this afternoon.
WESLEY CHAPEL (PASCO) – A Largo man is charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer, after he used emergency lights and a fake badge to stop a vehicle, and threaten to arrest the driver.
BROOKSVILLE – Some good news to report tonight, after a trapped kitten was rescued from a storm drain at the intersection of Cortez Blvd and Mariner Blvd.
SPRING HILL – The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a homicide investigation into the death of a one-month old infant that occurred earlier this month.
