Heavy Smoke Damages Vacant Home, Mattress Fire Likely Cause

SPRING HILL – Arson investigators are looking into the cause of a suspicious fire that occurred at a residence on Dothan Ave.

According to officials, Firefighters responded to 2448 Dothan Ave around 4:15 p.m., after neighbors called 911 to report glass breaking and smoke billowing from the residence. Once inside, firefighters discovered that the fire was contained to a bedroom and may have started on a mattress. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire but the home sustained heavy smoke damage throughout.

There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians and no damage to surrounding properties.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

  • why cant the county come up with a program that could let empty house be used or sold so these types of problems wont arise,there are plenty of people who would love to live in a home.
