Man Unresponsive After Crash, Dog Bites, and Possible Gunshot Wounds

WEEKI WACHEE – Around 10:00 p.m. last evening, a man driving a motorcycle westbound on Cortez Blvd, near Nightwalker Road, crashed after a State Trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop. There are no official reports at this time, but sources say the male suspect was possibly carrying at least two handguns and fled into the wood line, before he could be taken into custody.

The Sheriff’s Office Air Unit began searching overhead as a K-9 unit tracked the suspect on the ground. Within minutes, the suspect was located in a wooded area south of Noddy Tern Road, along Nightwalker Road. K-9 was deployed to subdue the suspect, but deputies soon discovered that the man was unconscious and unresponsive. The suspect received bite wounds to the head and may have sustained one or more gunshot wounds, (possibly self-inflicted) but that information has not been confirmed.

Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported the man to Oak Hill Hospital, where he was airlifted to Bayonet Point Hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.

RNRF will bring more on this story as it develops.

  • I wondered when I first read the headline, if this was one story or three (man unresponsive, dog bites, & gunshot wounds), lol. Who would of thought it was just one person! I’d say if it weren’t for bad luck, he’d have no luck at all, or he has nine lives, minus three!! Lol
