HERNANDO – Like it or not, the Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to extend a contract with Republic Waste Management Services for another seven years. And with that extension comes a rate hike but it also brings an automated pickup system that will do away with unsightly trash piles lining the roadways.

HERNANDO – Stories of officer involved shootings have become common place with most news organizations and probably rank in the top five daily headlines, alongside Russia-Trump, terror attacks, healthcare and North Korea’s “weekly” missile tests. Regardless of the circumstances, when news of a lost loved one reaches the doorsteps of unsuspecting family, a tidal wave of grief, confusion and anger often overwhelm survivors.

UPDATE: 2:26 P.M. – Within minutes of publishing our story of the shooting suspect’s capture, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office issued a media release confirming the arrests and providing additional information. RNRF was advised that the cases were still under investigation prior to their media release. Here is HCSO’s statement in it’s entirety:

On 07-26-17 just after 4:30 p.m., Hernando County deputies were dispatched to the area of Belmont Road in Spring Hill regarding shots fired from a vehicle.
Upon arrival, deputies met with a witness who observed a white Lincoln 4-door pass through the area.  As the driver of the Lincoln passed through, someone inside the vehicle fired several shots from the moving vehicle.  A total of eight 9mm shell casings were located in the roadway, within a 200 foot stretch.
Deputy Joe Merando quickly developed a lead in the case.  Merando learned that Andre Waddy was actively trying to sell a 9mm handgun and an associate of Waddy’s, Anthony Cusati, was recently observed driving a white Lincoln 4-door.
A short time later, Merando was advised that Waddy and Cusati (still in the Lincoln) were displaying a firearm in the parking lot of A to Z Discount Beverage on Deltona Boulevard.  Merando located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.  While speaking to the occupants of the vehicle, Merando detected the odor of marijuana.  A search of the vehicle was conducted which resulted in the discovery of marijuana, paraphernalia, and a 9mm handgun.
Detective William Cooper was called in to assist with the investigation.
During questioning, Cusati admitted to shooting the firearm from the vehicle while on Belmont Road, “in order to blow off steam,” as he was upset over a telephone conversation with his girlfriend.
In separate incidents involving Waddy and Cusati, Merando and Cooper learned Cusati committed an Aggravated Assault with the firearm by pointing it at Jordan Patascher, mistaking him for another individual.  Waddy pointed the same firearm at Jamie Siciliano during the same time frame.  Both incidents occurred in the parking lot of the A to Z Discount Beverage located on Deltona Boulevard.  Both incidents were corroborated by four witnesses who were able to describe the firearm in detail.

SPRING HILL – Yesterday RNRF broke the news of a drive-by shooting that occurred on Belmont Road and later reported the capture of two possible suspects. There are now unconfirmed reports that both men have been charged in connection with yesterday’s shooting and possibly a prior shooting that injured a juvenile on July 17th.

BROOKSVILLE – A woman’s car was swallowed up by a hole this morning, after a water main broke in front of her apartment on Barclay Ave. Mary Boone says she woke up around 3:00 a.m. this morning to find her car nose first in a hole at her front door step. Boone says she stepped into the hole and suffered minor injuries to her legs. Boone’s car was pulled from the hole and it appears to have only suffered minor damage.

SPRING HILL – Less than four hours after a drive-by shooting occurred on Belmont Road, deputies located what sources say is the suspect vehicle and possibly those responsible for the shooting.
