Hole Opens After Water Main Break, Swallows Car, Injures Woman
BROOKSVILLE – A woman’s car was swallowed up by a hole this morning, after a water main broke in front of her apartment on Barclay Ave. Mary Boone says she woke up around 3:00 a.m. this morning to find her car nose first in a hole at her front door step. Boone says she stepped into the hole and suffered minor injuries to her legs. Boone’s car was pulled from the hole and it appears to have only suffered minor damage.
Crews are working to repair damage to the parking lot but Both Boone and her neighbor Timothy Rosario’s apartments are condemned.
Last year Rosarios’s car caught fire in front of his apartment, and before that, another apartment was destroyed when a car plowed through the front door.
Brookview Villa Apartments is located on Barclay Ave at Cortez Blvd.
Officials have now issued a Boil Water notice for the entire complex.
