Woman Charged with Attempted Murder, Says, “I set that mother f**ker on fire”
NEW PORT RICHEY (PASCO) – A woman is behind bars today after she tried to kill her estranged husband by setting fire to his home early Thursday morning.
According to officials, 48-year-old Eva Marie Brennan was upset over her husband seeing another woman, so she stopped by his mobile home at 5433 Van Doren Ave to express her anger. After Eva left the residence, the victim, James Brennan Jr. went to bed in the early evening hours.
Around 5:00 a.m. Brennan woke to the foot of his bed being on fire, so he called out for his son James Brennan III for help. Unable to put out the fire inside the home, they pulled the mattress outside and extinguished it without further damage to the mobile home.
Officials say Brennan Jr. suffered burns to his feet and hands as a result of the fire but the injuries were not life-threatening.
Brennan III’s girlfriend, Christie Carr was also inside the home at the time of the fire and she says around 8:00 a.m. Eva Brennan approached her in the driveway. Carr says she asked Eva if she knew what happened and Eva replied,“I set that mother f**ker on fire.”
Eva admitted to detectives that she set the fire and was subsequently charged with 1st Degree Arson, Arson with Serious Injury, and 3-counts of Attempted Murder.
Eva Brennan is held at the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center on $110,000 bond.
