Major Drug Bust Reveals Large Amount of Cocaine, Crack, Marijuana, Cash
SPRING HILL – The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence on Larkin Road yesterday, leaving neighbors in shock and wondering what was going on inside the seemingly peaceful home.
During a press conference this morning, Vice and Narcotics Detectives joined Sheriff Al Nienhuis in announcing the arrest of a “mid-level’ drug dealer and his girlfriend at 1431 Larkin Road.
Nienhuis says around 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, Vice and Narcotics, SWAT and Detention SWAT entered the home and discovered large amount of cocaine, crack, marijuana, ecstasy, liquid Codeine, cash and a firearm.
Officials say the investigation began back in May after receiving a tip. Detectives were able to establish a rapport with the suspect, 28-year-old Devan Diandre Bristol and conduct several controlled purchases over the course of the investigation.
Detectives discovered an astounding 1.5 kilos of cocaine, both as a solid brick and in powdered form, 299.7 grams of crack cocaine (3/4 lb.), 22 lbs. of marijuana, and about a gallon of liquid codeine. Officials also located $35,000 in cash, a cash counting machine, and later learned that Bristol had deposited a large amount of cash to purchase an $88,000 Mercedes Benz.
Both Sheriff Nienhuis and Sgt. Lamia were disheartened by what they say was the most disturbing discovery of all – a 3-year-old child living in the home and having easy access to a large amount of crack cocaine. The Department of Children and Families is investigating the child’s welfare.
Bristol’s girlfriend, 26-year-old Jasmine Deon Delaine was also arrested and charged with trafficking in cocaine, drug production, intent to sell marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Her bond has been set at $116,000 bond.
Bristol faces numerous drug charges and his held on over $230,000 bond at the Hernando County Jail.
Officials say Bristol is well-known to local law enforcement and has been arrested over 29 times since 2005. Bristol has also spent time in the Florida Department of Corrects and is a convicted felon.
Sheriff Nienhuis says Bristol will probably spend a handful of decades behind bars for his involvement in his drug operation.
One neighbor we spoke to said they had no idea this kind of activity was going inside the home and that they seemed like a really nice family. But with news of the bust they were glad to see them go.
