Major Drug Bust Reveals Large Amount of Cocaine, Crack, Marijuana, Cash

SPRING HILL – The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence on Larkin Road yesterday, leaving neighbors in shock and wondering what was going on inside the seemingly peaceful home.

During a press conference this morning, Vice and Narcotics Detectives joined Sheriff Al Nienhuis in announcing the arrest of a “mid-level’ drug dealer and his girlfriend at 1431 Larkin Road.

Nienhuis says around 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, Vice and Narcotics, SWAT and Detention SWAT entered the home and discovered large amount of cocaine, crack, marijuana, ecstasy, liquid Codeine, cash and a firearm.

Officials say the investigation began back in May after receiving a tip. Detectives were able to establish a rapport with the suspect, 28-year-old Devan Diandre Bristol and conduct several controlled purchases over the course of the investigation.

Detectives discovered an astounding 1.5 kilos of cocaine, both as a solid brick and in powdered form, 299.7 grams of crack cocaine (3/4 lb.), 22 lbs. of marijuana, and about a gallon of liquid codeine. Officials also located $35,000 in cash, a cash counting machine, and later learned that Bristol had deposited a large amount of cash to purchase an $88,000 Mercedes Benz.

Both Sheriff Nienhuis and Sgt. Lamia were disheartened by what they say was the most disturbing discovery of all – a 3-year-old child living in the home and having easy access to a large amount of crack cocaine. The Department of Children and Families is investigating the child’s welfare.

Bristol’s girlfriend, 26-year-old Jasmine Deon Delaine was also arrested and charged with trafficking in cocaine, drug production, intent to sell marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Her bond has been set at $116,000 bond.

Bristol faces numerous drug charges and his held on over $230,000 bond at the Hernando County Jail.

Officials say Bristol is well-known to local law enforcement and has been arrested over 29 times since 2005. Bristol has also spent time in the Florida Department of Corrects and is a convicted felon.

Sheriff Nienhuis says Bristol will probably spend a handful of decades behind bars for his involvement in his drug operation.

One neighbor we spoke to said they had no idea this kind of activity was going inside the home and that they seemed like a really nice family. But with news of the bust they were glad to see them go.

  • Yet another great drug bust in our County. The HCSO did a great job. I wonder if neighbors noticed that a brand new Mercedes was parked in their driveway, (unless they kept it somewhere else). Most people that live in our County know which homes are rentals and homes that are owned by individuals and many of the owners of their property live out of State so I guess there was no way to “check up and see how their rental homes are doing”, and in many cases they really don’t care as long as the rent is paid every month. I also understand that one of the people that lived in the home were on Food Stamps….imagine that?
At any rate I am sure that they eventually the HCSO is going to find out who the head kingpin is and that will be a major find. Sooner or later people that think they are going to set up a place in Hernando County who deal drugs
    will think twice.

  • Sheriff did another good job getting these 2 low rents back in the jail cell. Not lets hope the judges do their job. I do not like the press conference with the officers with their faces covered on display. They do not need to be present in my opinion.
For those who are of the belief that the HCSD is corrupt and knee deep in stolen money until you have proof you are dishing out Fake News.

    Thursday, 20 July 2017, 8:41 pm
    • I believe the reason for them being there is a tactic meant to possibly scare dealers. Going with the “You never know who you might be selling the drugs to” idea.

      Friday, 21 July 2017, 9:57 am
  • Outstanding job HCSO keep the s**t off the streets even the drugs ihooe you can keep the money

  • Kudos to HCSO. Put this scum away. Any judge that gives them less than 10 years each should lose their position. 29 arrests. RIDICULOUS that they are still around feeding off of hard working people. SHAME on their clients as well. They are not victims, they’re criminals too.

    Thursday, 20 July 2017, 8:29 pm
  • All those arrests are the result of racism and not enough free stuff.

  • I think this is the very same drug bust that Sheriff Nenhuis took Hernando County Commissioner, Jeff Holcomb, outfitted in fatigues and a BULLET PROOF VEST, on, yesterday. Their picture, together, was posted on FB before the raid. My question is this…how responsible is it to take a sitting Commissioner in a raid like this? God forbid Jeff gets shot. Who is held responsible? The County? The sheriff’s office? Who? Glad this raid was successful, but I don’t believe people outside the Sheriff’s office should be involved in any way.
