Local High School Student Chosen to Play in International Bowl IX, Lives Clean, Healthy Lifestyle
HERNANDO – A local high school football player has been chosen to play in one of the biggest games of the year but it’s not just his ability to play the game that makes this student stand-out among his fellow teammates.
18-year-old Louis Miele stands at an impressive 6’8’, and ¾”, Louis emphasizes, and weighs a lean 335 lbs.
Louis, a senior at Nature Coast Technical High School, plays Offensive Tackle and Defensive Nose Guard for the school’s football program.
Louis’s mother and teacher at NCT, Marguerite Miele, contacted RNRF earlier this week to announce that her son was chosen to play in the international Bowl, which will be held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home to the Dallas Cowboys.
Concerns of not yet receiving an offer to attend a Division 1 college or university, news of playing in the internationally recognized event brought comfort and renewed hopes to Louis that NCAA and NFL scouts might take notice to his athletic abilities.
But it’s not just Louis’s size and talent that has made his family, both on and off the field proud, Louis believes living a clean lifestyle is key to overcoming challenges and being successful. Louis says, “I don’t believe in polluting my body.” Louis doesn’t drink, smoke, or do drugs and his mother even says he’s “saving himself for marriage.”
Living a clean lifestyle is something to be desired in both collegiate and professional sports these days, and Louis says he wants to be different than the rest.
Louis plans to seek a degree in engineering or veterinary medicine while attending college.
International Bowl IX will be held on January 12th, 2018, and will showcase top players from the United States, Canada, Japan, Mexico and the Nordic nations.
Louis has also been chosen to play at an event in Australia next summer.
Louis will be in Texas for several days and is trying to raise money to fund his travel expenses.
