Sheriff’s Office: “In Fear of Their Own Personal Safety,” Fatal Shooting Possible Self-Defense
SPRING HILL – Hernando County Officials have released the identities of those involved in last night’s fatal shooting on Villa Court.
According to official, around 5:15 p.m. last night, 911 operators received at least two separate calls from individuals reporting a shooting at 12211 Villa Road. (ORIGINAL NEWS REPORT).
Once deputies arrived on scene, they discovered the body of 28-year-old Brad Anthony Scott, just outside the kitchen window of Joseph and Karen Correa’s residence.
Officials say, “In fear of their own personal safety, one of the residents shot Scott.”
There are conflicting accounts of what actually happened last night, but according to one witness, Joe Correa and the deceased were screaming and yelling, just before he heard at least one shot.
Another witness tells RNRF that Scott may have been attempting to break into the residence, but that has not been confirmed.
Joseph Correa was seen being take from the back of a patrol car in handcuffs and loaded into an ambulance. He was later released and has not been charged in the shooting, according to sources.
