Transient Arrested for Stealing Food From Circle K, Blames Sheriff’s Office for the Theft

HUDSON (PASCO) – A local transient found himself behind bars Wednesday, after stealing several items from a Circle K Convenience Store. But it’s who he blamed for the offense that shocked the arresting deputy.

According to reports, 53-year-old David Brian Meaders walked into the Circle K on Hudson Ave, picked an old cup out of the trash and filled it with soda. Meaders then walked over to the roller grill and placed several items into a plastic bag and failed to pay for the merchandise.

During an interview with deputies, Meaders stated, “they owed me because the Pasco Sheriff’s Office threw my stuff out last time I was arrested.”

Meaders resisted arrest but was eventually taken into custody and transported to the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center.

Meaders remains behind bars on a $150 bond.

  • Laughing at all the comments referring to northerners being so “bad”. Those leaving such comments please Explain to me this – why is it notherners seem to be the most sought after when it comes to filling positions for work. /compared to “florida grown” southerners. Most Northerners are known to have such great work ethic. Impeccable some would say. Granted there is good and bad in all places/& races. But from what I have observed it seems that for the most part northerners are A LOT less lazy, are usually much more educated, ALLWAYS seem to have such a much more vast vocabulary, many even bi-lingual, always seem to be much more open minded, have higher I.Q’s,in better shape-health wise, all around more intelligent ,i mean the list goes on,and on,and on…. But I guess I can maybe see why some people are bothered by these “northerners”,,maybe it bothers them when someone out shines them,or raises the bar in just about everything..

  • There are over 3500 homeless people in Pasco County and many people have the misconception that they want to be homeless, are drug addicts, alcoholics, and criminals. Many of these people have hit hard times either from a loss of job, the change in the economy, the cost of living has gone up but not the paychecks and our vets. There are families with children homeless and Pasco has no homeless shelters or any type of assistance for people who need help This is a crisis for our county and community. It needs every citizens help in combating the problem.

I’m raising money for Coalition for the Homeless of Pasco. Every little bit helps. This cause means a lot to me, and I believe that we can make a difference together. Thanks! Check out info about this nonprofit:

  • Most of the free meal places have closed down, plus food stamps have been taken away from them, leaving the majority of em the choice of be hungry or steal to eat. U could make the argument of get a job, not an easy task in most of there sitiuations. No home no car no clean clothes or regular showers. Add to that whatever problems they have mentally ( drugs, alcohol, plain unstable.) Not to many places I can think of they could even manage to get an interview. Let along a job. So as a society we can either at least
Have enuff compassion to feed these lost souls. Or take the let em starve to death good riddance. I personally hope there’s enuff empathy left in the human race to not wish starvation and death, on any group, no matter how rough a time there having at the moment.

    • Many years ago I worked in a large city with many “street people”. They would ask to buy a cigarette which I would give them for nothing. Coworkers wondered why. I wouldn’t give money but would “treat” them to hamburger, fries, drink and also buy food for their dogs when I could. When they found out what car I drove if I was at a parking meter about to run out of time these “street people ” would take change from their pocket if they had it and put in parking meter. They worked day labor when they could. Day labor here is seriously lacking. Hernando county has nothing for folks like them. Yes food services are lacking. There’s no commodities, no services, no nothing. Maybe commisioners need to do some work in this area. It would benefit alot of seniors, low income families, etc. HOW ABOUT IT COMMISIONERS??? Not all these folks want to be bums. Some have hit rock bottom and someday it could be one of us.

  • he must really be down on his luck if hes willing to eat gas station food. its sad when if you ever worked at a hospitality.. you know thousands of pounds of perfectly untouched food gets tossed in the trash daily in this county. Ive worked for multiple places in this county where its toss fresh perfectly good food in the trash or get fired and the expenses of waste get passed on to the consumer. as with this the expenses of him being incarcerated will get passed on to the tax payer. it will easily cost a dollar to the tax payer for every 5 cents worth he took.

  • Though you get meals, a bed, and a roof, you stand a good chance of being bullied, or being a target for sex.
Thus wanting jail, is not as good as it sounds.

    • Maybe biotch boys like U Mike. Most of us can hold our own.most people in jail have their own problems, without starting more.

    Thursday, 15 June 2017, 5:59 pm
    • Shut up

      Thursday, 15 June 2017, 11:20 pm
  • If I was there and noticed this I would have offered to pay for his things so he wouldn’t be prosecuted. He’s wasting up space in a jail over less than 5$ worth of stuff when there’s someone out there doing 1000x worse. Fight real crime, not some petty ass 5$ and maybe the law would be respected more. You sir are awesome and deserve a promotion as a deputy!!!??????

    Thursday, 15 June 2017, 5:44 pm
    • Lol @ the idiot above. The crime is the store owner vs. the shoplifter. Just because you offer to pay does not offset the original crime. Do us all a favor and don’t reproduce.

      Friday, 16 June 2017, 2:33 am
      • Exactly. Theft is theft. How many vagrants are in your house???? Put your money where your mouth is.

        Friday, 16 June 2017, 12:17 pm
  • This guy WANTED to get arrested!
No food , no shelter,no nothin’?

    Thursday, 15 June 2017, 5:37 pm
  • doing ok now… 3 hots and a cot for awhile.

    Thursday, 15 June 2017, 4:55 pm
  • Thosands to hold and prosecute over less than $10 in food/drink. Poor guy. Serve and protect, what happen to putting yourself in other people’s shoes. Arresting and jailing this guy sure helps him become a law-abiding citizen. 10% of $150 bail to bail out is $15 but this guy probably doesn’t even have that. Prayers.

    Thursday, 15 June 2017, 4:15 pm
    • He’ll have roof over his head, food in his tummy and a real bed to sleep on. Sometimes vagrants get arrested on purpose for just these things. That’s probably not the case here since he resisted arrest but not many of us would appreciate him coming into our “house” and helping himself to those items without permission. I commend the officer for upholding the law.

      Thursday, 15 June 2017, 5:10 pm
      • I would have paid for the items…have you been to jail? Since you comment on the real bed. Alot in prison wish they were homeless. Where im from i couldnt even call police over such a petty theft.

        Thursday, 15 June 2017, 11:17 pm
      • Thats what i was thinking at least a dry place to sleep and food and shelter

        Friday, 16 June 2017, 2:01 am
    • Bonds under $500 usually require the full amount.
Looks to be 30 not 53!

      Thursday, 15 June 2017, 5:26 pm
    • Minimum bond fee is $100 set by State of Florida

      Thursday, 15 June 2017, 5:40 pm
    • They have to enforce the law. The guy was shoplifting.

      Thursday, 15 June 2017, 5:55 pm
    • So it’s okay to steal someone elses property as long as it’s under $10. Tell you what. Why don’t you go to the Circle K and pay for the stuff. You can then post his bail and take him home with you and support him until he becomes a law-abiding citizen

      Friday, 16 June 2017, 7:33 am
      • Exactly. He would still have his stuff if he would not have got arrested the first time. His own fault not sherriffs fault
